I am in the early stages of my book-loving journey, so I thought it would be fun to journal my monthly reads and share thoughts!
One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

I did not expect to like this book as much as I did, but wow. This book has mystery, romance, drama, and more things you can think of to make this the perfect young adult fiction. This story follows four main characters that have to deal with the aftermath of a classmate’s death that so happens to conveniently run a gossip site spilling reputation-ending type of information. Not only was I obsessed with the main characters but loved the development of their relationships with each other throughout the story. I originally had this book at four stars but had to change it to five once I read the epilogue. Overall, I loved every detail of this book and was shocked by how good and unexpected the plot twist was. Definitely recommend it if you watched Pretty Little Liars.
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
If you are looking for a thriller book that lives up to the hype, this one is for you. This book follows Theo, a physiotherapist, who is determined that he can make his patient talk after being mute since she killed her husband. This page-turning thriller is guaranteed to keep you sucked in with the constant twists and turns that slowly reveal the truth behind the unexpected attack. I am obsessed with the storyline of this book and how the truth is unveiled throughout each chapter. I can confidently say my jaw was on the floor when I finished this book. The only reason I gave it four stars is that I wish one pivotal point in the story involving the patient was written differently, but nevertheless, I have a great appreciation for this book and the suspense that carried throughout the read. This is a story I still think about and feel any thriller/horror fan would enjoy.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I went into this book knowing the one reputation this read holds; it is a five-star story. Reluctant to believe what everyone else says, I was happy to discover that this book deserves all the hype it is given. This story follows the life of Evelyn Hugo, a major Hollywood star throughout the ’50s-’70s. I will be honest when I say this book made me feel every emotion I could think of in the best way possible. I can only describe it by saying I was fully satisfied with how everything played out. I know some people don’t like the character of Evelyn Hugo, but similar to the narrator, I found to love her by the end. The friendships and love that unfold throughout each marriage made me feel like I knew Evelyn personally. Basically, I’m trying to say that you need to read this book. I promise you won’t regret it.
Let me know if you have read any of these books and your opinions! I am open to any recommendations people have to offer and am so excited to explore the reading world 🙂
